Orangutan (M.O.M.) Awareness Day
Orangutan M.O.M Day is held on Mother's Day each year. M.O.M. stands for Missing Orangutan Mothers. The goal of our event is to aid in orangutan conservation, raise awareness and educate the public that there is hope for these animals with our help.
Activities will include touch tables, coloring stations, face painting, activity booklets and visitors can enter to win in two raffle drawings (an iPad drawing done by one of our Bornean orangutans; a palm oil-free gift basket) plus:
11 a.m.: Orangutan Enrichment Demonstration at the Orangutan Exhibit
2 p.m.: Keeper Talk at the Orangutan Exhibit. Visitors will be able to "take tea" with the orangutans afterward. Iced tea will be provided; bring your own tea hat!
Our orangutans love plush animals, blankets and hats, so we encourage visitors to bring gently used items to share with our orangutans!
When: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 11
Cost: Free with Zoo admission
