These interactive opportunities are designed to meet state learning standards. Each program lasts 45 minutes to an hour and includes 3 or 4 live animals, interactive activities, and animal-related artifacts. Programs can take place at the zoo or in your facility through a visit from the Wegmans ZooMobile.
For Grades K-8:
The 3 R's
Today's students must confront serious challenges to
the health of our planet. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle provides students
the understanding and tools to help improve the environment. Can you
create zero waste? Some of our invertebrate friends can show you how!
With a close hands-on look at composting, students learn how to reduce
their carbon footprint and Go Green!
Backyard Habitat
In this hands-on program students learn about the many
things they can do to help preserve local wildlife. Particular focus is
on the fauna that can be found right in their own schoolyards and
backyards. Through interactions with live animals and other activities,
students learn about some of the more helpful interconnections they
have with local animals.
Butterfly Beltway Gardens
Your students build a habitat or renew an existing one
at your school to help preserve Monarch Butterflies. Students learn
what makes Monarchs so special and release live Monarchs into their own
garden.
For Grades K-2:
Vertebrate Visit

new program.

Though habitats may be hot or cold, wet or dry, and sometimes filled with trees, all living things have the same basic needs. Discover how a few of our Education animals survive in their varied natural homes and why every animal has to have a habitat.

No matter what kind of animal you are life can be pretty tough in the wild! Big or small, predator or prey, all animals have special adaptations to help themselves and their species survive. In this program learn about what animals need to do to survive in the wild and how their adaptations help them along the way!
Dry Scales and Slimy Skin
Snakes, lizards, and salamanders, oh my! These animals might looks scary to some people but we think they are "toad-ally" awesome! In this program we will discuss classification, identification and appreciation of some of the world's most misunderstood creatures.
Going, Going Saved!
Discover the things that can cause animals to become endangered or even extinct; and learn what zoos and you can do to prevent it from happening. It's not too late to save the world's most precious animals if we all do our part.
Fantastic Frogs
Have you heard?! Frogs and their relatives (other amphibians) are facing some problems in the wild, but we are here to help. Learn about what is happening to wild amphibians, what other kinds of animals depend on amphibians for survival, and what you can do to help take care of fantastic frogs! It is bound to be a "hopping" good time!
